Are Jehovah's Witnesses a Cult?
by digderidoo ini have found these 14 characteristics of a typical cult and below are some questions regarding the behaviour of a cult.
my personal opinion is that the watchtower society fits into most of these characteristics, with the exception of 1& 14. possibly part of number 10 fits, but not all.
i feel that all of the questions posed should be asked of jw's and all of the further symptoms apply too.

Protesting is something that works. A group of us "apostates" have protested in front of the Wilmington Mass. Kingdom Hall for 4 years in a row on Memorial night. . http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rC4OroaWDus

'Paradise Earth' makes absolutely no sense!
by navytownroger inthe jw idea of 'paradise earth' seems to be full of holes.
will babies of baptized jws also be in the new system?
if not, how could the child's parents consider it 'paradise' without their children?

This is a great subject to examine. It is true that no where in the Bible does it use the words "Paradise earth". Even Adam and Eve did not live on Paradise earth. They lived in a garden called Eden. They were also never told that they would live on "Paradise earth" if they obeyed God. They were simply told that if they disobeyed God they would die. Genesis 8:22 says: "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease." (NASB) Isaiah 65:17 "For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth". (NASB) and the list goes on. Jesus promised eternal life to all who believed on him and that where He is they may be with Him (John 17:24. The Watchtower organization leadership know this is all true but, if they told the real truth, they would lose millions of followers and billions of dollars. They are not willing to give up all they have worked for in place of telling people the Real Truth!

Jehovah's Witnesses act very strange concerning their fellow Witness friends who become mentally distressed. It seems that very little compassion is shown when fellow Witnesses "snap". Dr. Jerry Bergman, former Witness and author of one book entitled "Jehovah's Witnesses and the problem of mental illness" describes in great detail Witness behavior and how they disconnect from the real world. Listen to Dr. Bergman describe how careless and unfeeling the Watchtower is over infants dying at a convention.

The conference call is a great place to keep up to date on what's going on in the world of the crumbling Watchtower organization. The "Watchtower is dead it just hasn't fallen over yet". The conference calls are recorded and can be heard on the following link.

I called the public relations department of the Watchtower Society to find out about Gilead. I was interested in knowing who the current registrar is and got their response on what's going on at Gilead. To hear the conversation with the Watchtower dial in on Saturday night.

A reliable source has informed us that the Registrar of Gilead was removed....laid off. Is the Watchtower school of Gilead, where they train their missionaries, in the process of downsizing or perhaps dismantling. Now that Math. 24:14 "This good news will be preached in all the inhabited earth" has been completed and with all of the problems the Witnesses are having to deal with concerning human rights around the world and in view of current world conditions the Watchtower may indeed be making major changes at Gilead. Also our guest will be a former presiding overseer who has some startling information on the "Thriller" himself, Michael Jackson, and you will be surprised at what Michael gave to the organization. Also on the call we will be updating information on the J.W. suicide and bombing of the Kingdom Hall in Bates City Missouri!
The phone lines open at 6:30p.m.EST. Come in early and chat with your friends. The program starts at 7p.m. Saturday August 2.
It's easy to get on the call. Dial (712)432-8710 and when asked for pin give number 9925. There is no charge for the call, just your normal calling rate applies.

Below is a link to a TV video which JS sent about what the U.S. Alchohol, Tobacco & Firearms (ATF) agents says may have been a suicider exploding himself and the Bates City, Missouri, Kingdom Hall several days ago:
http://www.kmbc.com/video/17004867/index.html
The person was apparently an elder or ministerial servant. Local JWs, doubtlessly led by Watchtower Elders doing as Watchtower likes, have put out word that the ATF is wrong, that there was no suicide or use of accelerants. Watchtower's spin is that the elder/ministerial servant was most likely working on heating (in the summertime?!) and there was an accidental explosion.
The Kansas City Star (see below) says the man had shot himself, so what kind of coverup lies will Watchtowerites put out about that? Maybe they'll suggest the elder/MS was in the Kingdom Hall fixing the heater and thought he had grabbed a screw driver to work with on it but instead it was a gun and it accidentally went off blowing him to kingdom come................!

Identity of man killed in explosion, fire still not released
By BRIAN BURNES
The Kansas City StarBates City authorities have yet to release the name of a man whose body was found Saturday while firefighters extinguished a blaze at a Jehovah’s Witness Fellowship Hall.
About 1:50 p.m. authorities responded to an explosion and fire at the hall on U.S. 40 east of Bates City.
While extinguishing the blaze firefighters discovered a body inside the building. Authorities determined the man had died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Accelerant had been poured throughout the hall.
The deceased man was a 53-year-old resident of Buckner, said Dale Cox, Bates City police chief. Official identification, however, will not be announced until several reports are completed, Cox said. Those include a toxicology report as well as an investigation by U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms personnel.
“We know there was accelerant in the building,” Cox said. “We just don’t know if he intentionally set the fire or one of the electrical items in the building caused the fire’s ignition.”

The name of the other book released is "Keep yourselves in God's love". A statement made on page 23 par. 20 says "furthermore, do not expect simple,black-and-white rules on matters of conscience". Furthermore on page 216 there is a chart showing what parts of blood are unacceptable and those of which a Christian is to decide. My question is whose conscience made these decisions?
